Facts & Myths:

Myth: The “Idaho Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative” is needed to protect “some” abortion access in Idaho.

Fact: This initiative is extreme. The vague language allows the sale of abortions:

  • In all nine months of pregnancy, including on full-term babies who can feel pain.
  • For any reason, citing “mother’s health” which is a broad term that has been weaponized by the abortion industry in many other instances.
  • On minors without parental consent or other protections.

Myth: Declining to Sign will outlaw women’s health care.

Fact: Reproductive health care options for women are already protected without the “Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative,” including:

  • Miscarriage care.
  • Ectopic pregnancy care.
  • Life-threatening emergency care.
  • Reproductive health services such as contraception, well-women’s exams, and more!

Myth: The “Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative” is popular.

Fact: More than 7 in 10 Americans oppose the legalization of abortion after a preborn child can feel pain.

This initiative is extreme.

What Does Signing for the "Idaho Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative" mean?

Signing in favor of the “Idaho Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative” will mean adding taxpayer-funded abortion through all nine months, for any reason, into your state’s constitution. Once added, this will be very hard to remove or change.

Will Declining to Sign on this Initiative Affect Current State Laws?

Declining to Sign on the “Idaho Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative” doesn’t repeal any existing state laws regarding abortion. Idaho protects the right to life-saving care for mothers in emergency medical situations and miscarriage/ectopic pregnancy care.

Will Declining to Sign on this Initiative Remove Miscarriage and Ectopic Pregnancy Care?

Miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy care are allowed in Idaho and therefore not the focus of the “Idaho Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act Initiative.” Sadly, some political groups use these real, traumatic events to frighten voters into supporting something they otherwise would not (abortion up until birth). Under current Idaho law, there is a “life of the mother” abortion exception, which would remain unchanged.

What is a late-term abortion and how much can it cost?

Late-term abortions, or those done beyond 16 weeks‘ gestation (about 4 months of pregnancy), are invasive surgical procedures that either dismember or poison the preborn child. By this point in a baby’s gestation, the baby has a heartbeat, can feel the pain of the procedure, and has developed all internal organs. Late-term abortions are sold to women for anywhere from $500-$10,000 and are never medically necessary (the baby can simply be delivered whole and alive – see more below in the “Testimonials” section). Women are often unnecessarily sold these procedures for thousands of dollars by abortion industry leaders who have financial self-interest in keeping late-term abortions legal through ballot measures.
